The Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERD) traces its origins to the Visionary Nuclear Programme of the University of Ife, conceived in the early 1970s.
Under the pioneering leadership of Prof. Abiodun Francis Oluwole, the centre rapidly developed capabilities in nuclear science, becoming a cornerstone of Nigeria's energy research Infrastructure.
Today, CERD houses a state-of-the-art 1.7 MeV Tandem Pelletron Accelerator, serving as a critical hub for ion beam analysis and advanced materials research in the region.
